Judith Josephson and I have had exciting news.
Our Armando and the Blue Tarp School (Lee & Low Books) has been nominated for a 2009–2010 California Young Reader Medal. California students will read the nominated books, then vote on their favorites. Winners are announced in May 2010. Also, there's now a children's musical based on Armando—lively script, great songs and music.
We're especially happy about this CYRM nomination because part of boo sales benefit teacher David Lynch's nonprofit, Responsibility, Inc., which fosters the education of children who live by the Tijuana, Mexico dump. Please help us spread the word about Armando at your local schools and libraries and with your teaching friends. (www.bluetarpschool.com)
